ASME Code Weeks

The ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Weeks are the official meetings of the committees that write and update the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. They are held four times a year: this is when the Code is physically revised, with revision ballots, official interpretations and new Code Cases. 3HCSI follows them as ASME European Liaison.

What are they?

Where the Code is updated.

The committees that draft the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (Section I for power boilers, Section III for nuclear components, Section V for non-destructive examination, Section VIII for pressure vessels, Section XI for in-service inspection of nuclear plants, and others) meet in person to discuss and vote on changes to the Code. The week brings together Standards Committee, Subcommittee, Working Group and Task Group meetings.

With limited exceptions, committee meetings are open to the public. The full session schedule is available by registering for the event through ASME.

The Role of 3HCSI

Monitor, don't organize.

As the ASME European Liaison, 3HCSI follows the outcomes of each Code Week and reports them to its clients: what changed, for which Section, with what practical impact. The relevant updates flow into 3HCSI CODEX. 3HCSI does not organise or represent the Code Weeks: it monitors them and turns them into useful information for European industry.
